The older group worked extremely hard to perfect this very poignant story of a young girl’s tragic slide into drug addiction. The central character is a 15 year old girl, Vicki, who gradually falls prey to an addiction to heroin. Cleverly told in a mixture of ‘real-time’ and ‘flashback’ we see Vicki’s gradual decline, and watch her family and friends explain their understanding of events.
This was the first time 'treading the boards' for a some of the group. Not only did they work hard at the acting, but they also tackled backstage management, lighting (under the watchful eyes of Norman and Mary Jones), designing the posters and tickets, deciding on costumes, and mastering the art of stage make-up. It really was their performance in every sense of the word and Dawn and I were justifiably proud of them all.

For many of us this play was touched with sadness. In Shifnal Drama Group’s 1996 production of this play the part of Steve was played by a very charming and charismatic young man - Phil Evans. Tragically Phil died earlier this year from heart failure.
The Friday performance was dedicated to his memory and all proceeds went to the British Heart Foundation. A cheque was presented to Irene Parrish, a representative of the British Heart Foundation, by our President Eileen Shervey at the younger group’s summer production. Irene Parrish later wrote to thank us for the donation and Stagekids received a commemorative certificate.

And all who have assisted in any way with this production
