After a lot of hard work, for one night only the younger group
performed this short musical for family and friends. The story is set in a farmyard and is narrated by the widow whose farm it is... |
The first song introduces us to the widow, and the other animals on the farm - including the three pigs and cow who live on the meadow. |
...And of course we meet our hero Chanticler the Rooster. He considered himself the monarch of the farmyard and strutted around proudly. Click here to hear the first song |
And not forgetting his loving wife Pertelote - who wasn't really a blue hen! |
Pertelote and all the other hens were very fond of Chanticler and liked to sing to him about hatching chicks. Awww - bless! Click here to hear the hens' song |

One night Chantacleer had a bad dream about something with a red face and a scary grimace which chased him. Pertelote told him not to worry and that dreams normally meant the opposite, so something good was going to happen. |
The next day Chantaclear DID meet a fellow with a red face - Mr Fox! Mr Fox flattered the Rooster and complimented his singing and crowing. He said he could make Chanticler a STAR and tricked him into singing. When Chanticler opened his mouth to sing, Mr Fox grabbed him! Click here to hear Mr Fox's song. |

Click here to hear the thief in the night song Will Chantacleer escape? Do his friends come to the rescue?? Of course they do! Did you really think there wouldn't be a happy ending? |
The young cast did very well learning their song words and getting the moves right. There were some tricky words in there! In particular, those who sang solos should be very proud of themselves - a nerve-wracking thing to do!
And all who have assisted in any way with this production
