Wendy, John and Michael Darling are whisked away to Neverland by the magical Peter Pan and his sidekick, fairy Tinker Bell. There they meet and make friends with the Lost Boys (an assortment of young men desperate for a mother to look after them) and the Picaninny Indians. They also meet Peter's lifelong adversary, the evil Captain Hook and his fearsome band of pirates. When Hook kidnaps Indian Princess Tiger Lily, Peter and his crew are in for more than they bargained for. Will they manage to rescue her and still get the Darling children home in time for breakfast?!
This musical version of the classic children's story by J.m. Barrie was performed solely by the younger group - no mean feat - and they did a fantastic job. Particular credit goes to those who sang solos to a packed auditorium - especially those for whom it was their first time on stage with us. (We really were packed out and at one point thought we were going to run out of seats on the Saturday performance!)
Well done also to Wendy in her directorial debut - although she swears it was also her directorial swansong claiming her main talents lie well and firmly in the prop and scenery department. (We loved the sedan chair!)
The script and music for this production came from Yellowbrick Productions who very kindly provided backing tracks of all the songs in midi format for easy playback through a midi keyboard.
