2001
Panto - February 1st, 2nd & 3rd at Idsall School.
This particular panto seemed to be plagued by illness - but the show must go on! Poor old Puss didn't have a girlfriend to marry at the end of the production, but the funniest thing was Footloose the tap-dancing Horse who had no back-end, and had to drag his posterior along the floor. Particularly amusing considering his signature song was 'Four Legged Friend'. Oh well!
Musical - November 21st, 22nd & 23rd at Idsall School.
This was the last outing for Shifnal Drama Group and Shifnal Junior Drama Group together.
The munchkins sported some fabulous hair-dos!
A Special Thanks goes to Margaret Mascarenhas for stepping in to provide the musical accompaniment only 10 days before the production was staged!
2002
Variety Night January 19th at Shifnal Village Hall.
Members of the Junior Group participated in a Variety Night at Shifnal Village Hall and sang some of the songs from the Wizard of Oz.
They were among a number of groups and performers who joined together in a concert to raise funds for the Shifnal Millennium Sensory Garden which has since been built and is located in the grounds of St. Andrews Church graveyard.
Comedy - June at Shifnal Village Hall.
The last production by Shifnal Drama Group. This was a comedy about four agraphobic ladies and a social worker holding a jumble sale. It's a shame the adult group folded after this, but we all agree it was a brilliant performance from the six ladies on stage and great to go out on a high note!
Musical - October 17th, 18th & 19th at Idsall School.
The "Amazing Autumn Spectacular" was the last production by Shifnal Junior Drama Group before reforming as 'Stagekids'. For licensing reasons we can't actually tell you what it really was. However, if we said it was about a guy from the bible with a lot of brothers, a brightly coloured jacket and a penchant for interpreting dreams you might have a clue!
2003
Stagekids is formed
Play - May 15th, 16th and 17th at Idsall School.
Moving play performed by the older element of Stagekids about a young girl's struggle with drug addiction.
This production was made even more poignant following news of the death of a former member of Shifnal Drama Group who himself took part in the play back in 1996. Stagekids decided to use this production to raise some money for the British Heart Foundation.

Panto - February 5th, 6th and 7th at Idsall School
Stagekids' first panto and written by our very own Sandra Houston. This is the story of the young Princess Fleur who is sent to sleep by pricking her finger on a spinning wheel as the result of the spell of the evil fairy Deadly Nightshade. Only a kiss from her true love, Prince Florizel, can awaken her.

Musical - July 14th at Idsall School
For one night only this was a special production performed by the younger element of Stagekids for friends and family.
The musical is set on a farmyard and tells the story of a Rooster who nearly meets his end because he is flattered and tricked by the evil Mr Fox. Will his friends rescue him in the end???

Musical - October 7th, 8th & 9th at Idsall School
This is the tale of two rival gangs battling it out with splurge guns and custard pies in 1920’s New York. Most of the action takes place at the Speakeasy where Fat Sam provides the sarsaparilla, and the dancing girls, led by Tallulah, provide the entertainment. All seems well until Dandy Dan’s hoodlums enter the scene.
Enter Bugsy Malone. Will he manage to save the day AND hold on to his girl, Blousey Brown, at the same time?
This was an EXCELLENT production by the older group. Well done to you all. I really enjoyed being involved with this!

2005
Panto - February 24th, 25th, and 26th at Idsall School
Stagekids second pantomime told the tale of Princess Snow White in a slightly different way to the usual story - no dwarves for a start! (Woodsfolk instead). This production will probably be best remembered for the fact that the dame was struck down with flu after just one performance. Amy, a former Stagekids member, gallantly stepped in to save the day and went on-stage with the script. This is no mean feat when you have only been to the last couple of rehearsals with the intention of being part of the backstage crew and we were all very impressed with her!

3 Plays - October 7th and 8th at Shifnal Village Hall
Does your life have meaning? Well if it didn't we hope you came along and enjoyed a night of tragedy, comedy and romance.
  • Romeo and Juliet - a potted version of Shakespeare's classic love story performed by the younger element of Stagekids.
  • A Midsummer Night's Dream - another take on a different Shakespeare tale, performed by one half of the older group.
  • Totally Over You - about the pitfalls of obsession with fame and celebrity and featuring original music written by members of the group - Awesome! This one was the work of the other half of the older group.
